Our surrounding and things to do in Mojácar

The greatest sight there is to see is the world – look at it!

So here we are in the middle of that forgotten part of Andalusia which is ignored by almost every travel guide and yet has so much to offer …

From romantic sandy beaches on the Andalusian Mediterranean coast to the mountainous heights of the Sierra Cabrera, you can enjoy Andalusian diversity almost on your doorstep. Whether you’re looking for peace and relaxation or a sporting challenge, here you will find many options for designing your own personal gourmet holiday.

Our cities

The nearest town is the beautiful coastal town of Mojácar, with its scenic architecture. Here you can relax in the small, picturesque cafés and enjoy the typical Andalusian flair.

If you want to see more people and enjoy shopping, culture and nightlife you have to visit Almería, Lorca or Murcia – although the latter ones are not in Andalusia 😀. Even to Granada with the famous Alhambra and its picturesque old town it will be only a two hours drive.

Our nature

Very close to the Cortijo is also the world-famous nature reserve of Cabo de Gata. Due to the extremely dry climate and proximity to the sea, its extraordinary landscape and vegetation make Cabo de Gata a unique ecosystem.

… or you can visit the “Desierto de Tabernas” – the only european desert. We would suggest to do this as a guided Jeep-Safari with our partner Malcaminos.

Other beautiful natural parks are Sierra de Los Filabres and Sierra María-Los Vélez in the northwest or the Sierra de Alhamilla and the Sierra Nevada in the southwest with Europe’s southernmost ski resort.

If you don’t want to climb up the mountains you can climb down in the caves of the natural park Karst y Yesos de Sorbas where you can cool off your sunburn 😉.

Our wines and delis

If you fancy a culinary trip most wineries can be found close to the Rio de Andarax and Rio de Almanzora, specifically the town of Serón, where you can also find the most delicious hams.

Our beaches

You can’t have a perfect gourmet holiday without some bathing in the pool or the sea.  In the Cortijo, we have a huge, heated pool for you to use. If you’re looking for something even bigger a little further away, you will find idyllic Mediterranean sandy beaches barely a ten minute drive from our country hotel by car. The Costa de Almeria also invites you to walk for miles along the beaches.
